Mike Short

Agency Owner

Mike is the third generation of the Short family to partner with Allstate. Mike’s grandfather, Bill, was a manager at Allstate in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Mike’s father, Ken, was an agent for 36 years, and Mike purchased the Long Valley agency from his father in April 2008.

Prior to purchasing the agency in 2008, Mike worked in the office as a licensed account executive and office manager for several years. Mike also worked in the office as a high school student while he attended West Morris Central. He went on to receive an undergraduate degree in marketing from The University of Scranton, where he was an active participant in student government, campus ministry, and the men’s crew team.

After college, Mike volunteered through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and spent a year in Brooklyn teaching adults studying to earn their GEDs. Mike then worked for three years as an administrator at Scranton Preparatory School before moving back home to Morris County.

In his free time, Mike enjoys being with family at the Jersey shore, sampling new foods and wines with friends, and cheering on the New York Giants. He is grateful to have had his father as a role model for good business practices, and he is honored to continue the legacy that his father and grandfather began with Allstate.

In May of 2010, Mike purchased the Denville agency and has implemented his customer-focused approach to the clients in the “hub of Morris County.” In 2011, Mike purchased the Rockaway agency and folded the accounts in the Denville office. In 2012, Mike became a father and has made family time a priority while running two successful agency locations. He strives for continuous growth, both professionally and personally. Mike is fully licensed in property & casualty and life & health insurances. He is extremely available to his clients and welcomes the opportunity to discuss your insurance and financial needs.
